Come and celebrate one of our Temple’s Matron Goddesses, Artemis. Artemis is a Goddess of Light. She is the protectress of the wild places, childbirth, womyn, mothers, children and wild animals. Artemis is the Goddess of freedom and of the wild.
Artemis is depicted in Greek art as a young maiden dressed in buckskins, carrying a bow and a quiver of arrows. She is often shown accompanied by wild creatures such as a stag, swan or she-bear. In many myths She is fighting for truth.
Artemis is a Goddess of the Moon, independence, compassion, healing and self-sufficient living. She is a virgin Goddess, virgin meaning that no one owns Her. She is a sovereign womyn. What are you aiming for? Bring to the Ritual those things that Artemis can help you shoot for? She aims straight, shoots and always makes Her mark.
Artemis’ symbols are the Moon, double axe, lightning, thunder, bow and arrow, javelin, torch, the Star Sirius, forest, and herbal medicines. Her sacred animals are bears, wolves, lions, birds, deer, snakes, fish, boar, goats, bees, horses, dogs, swan, kite, vulture, crow, dolphin and quail. All wild animals in general are sacred to Artemis.
For the Altar please bring a White, Silver or Green candle in a jar, Images and symbols of Artemis, Her animals and the moon. Please bring an offering from nature to leave.
Please note we are meeting outside near the ocean and it will get cold after dark. Bring layers and blankets to keep warm and something to sit on.
Please see our participation page for more information on attending our ceremonies.
