Let’s have some fun with Euphrosyne

Greek Goddess of Good Cheer, Joy & Mirth

Aloha Daughters of the Goddess,

We go forward from the orchards of Pomona into the seasonal celebrations of giving thanks and soon Winter Solstice.  Pomona helped us to embrace the tending and nurturing of our inner garden/orchard.  Now it is time to move out of trees and into the circle of womyn to embrace the fun and merriment that is the potential of our dance thru life.   Lets have some fun!

Let’s have some fun with Euphrosyne
Greek Goddess of Good Cheer, Joy & Mirth

Thru the forests, into the fields and glens, and on into the cities the women have for eons brought the joy, merriment, dance and song into the world and lives of all around.  It is thru the celebratory energy that is the feminine: maiden mother & crone ~ that the light of the essence of love and happiness exists.  So many pictures and paintings are of womyn together.   We gather together in the forests or fields, beaches or mountains, in cities or halls, in temples or churches for eons.  We gather together around the fire – or candles – or cauldron to ignite (or rekindle if it is waning) this flame of fun and merriment within our selves and onto sharing it with others.

We ask for the assistance of Euphrosyne, to join us, to open ourselves to the fun and joy in life.  Euphrosyne is a Greek Goddess and together with Her sisters, Thalia and Agalea, are called the Graces or Charities.  She is the Goddess of Good Cheer, Joy & Mirth.  Her name means “merriment.”  She is especially the personification of beauty and grace.  Euphrosyne, along with Her sisters, serve Aphrodite and Her son Eros.  Their path/focus is to fill the world with joy, merriment, pleasant times and they were always called upon for any celebration whether it be public, private, spiritual or governmental.

As we go into this season of giving we will take the time to have fun, just for ourselves, and our sisterhood.   On this night we will gather with our sisters to embrace the beauty and grace that we are, standing in our brilliant glory.  To remember the fun in play and merrymaking, dancing and singing, celebrating . . . . just to celebrate.

For the altar please bring a white candle.  And please bring something that is fun for you or makes you feel good.  Do you have a game that you play, a song that you sing to, a dance, maybe something to eat, makeup you like to put on, cool fingernail polish.  What do you do to feel good, make your self happy?  How do you see the beauty and grace in yourself?  If you don’t do this for yourself think about what you could do that would make you happy.  Any of the last things, or something new.  Wear something that makes you feel good.  Let have a get together and make some fun.
