Fall Equinox Celebration

With Ceres

Aloha Daughters of the Goddess,

Oh my goodness it has been swelteringly hot here in the SF east bay. The past week has been in the 100-115 range. We were so grateful to have some time at the Ocean when we celebrated Yemaya. Thank you Yemaya for the coolness of your waters, and the blessings received. And now we settle into the harvest and Fall Equinox with the blessings of the bread.

Fall Equinox is a time of balance, and transition. It is the 2nd of the 3 harvest celebrations of the year. A time of gratitude, celebration, community, and preparation. The apples are ripening, the grains are coming to fruition, peppers of all sorts, broccoli, cabbage, green beans, kale, lemons and limes, pears and peas. So many wonderous things of our Mother Earth are part of the bounty. What a blessed Mother we have that provides so abundantly for us.

We celebrate Ceres, Roman Goddess of Agriculture, especially the grains and a very Powerful Mother Goddess. She has gifted us especially with wheat so that we could make the beautiful, aromatic, and well varied types of breads. She makes the Earth fertile and so the gifts of all of the fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and trees can grow. She sustains us, She fill us, and She bless us with Her abundance. And as the Mother, She prepares us for the dark season ahead so that we may walk safely, nurturing the seeds to be the blessings of the Spring.

Come and celebrate with us! Share in the abundance of our Mother, the blessings of community, and ready ourselves for the continuing blessed cycle of the year. For the altar please bring a candle (the color of your choice) in a glass container. Any images of Ceres or things associated with Her: wheat, sheaths of grain, sickles, cornucopias, fruit/veggies, bread, corn, herbs. She loves flowers. See you soon! Blessings
