Celebrate Pomona

Roman Goddess of Orchards and Fruiting trees

Aloha Daughters of the Goddess,

Pumpkins and marigold bouquets sat on the altar lit by candles as we gathered to celebrate the Ancestors and Crones. We sang songs of remembrance while laughing in the fun memories of those that have passed and still hold a special place in our hearts. The Spiral dance was full of smiles and power as we were rebirthed into the magickal world. It was a beautiful night that was held by those who attended. Now it is time to celebrate late Fall before the transitioning into Winter. Let us call on Pomona and Her delicious apples to feed and fill us up.

Roman Goddess Pomona is a wood nymph who loved the countryside and pruning Her fruiting trees in the orchards. She was part of the Numia, guardian spirits who watched over homes, people, and places. Being the beautiful Amazon that She is, many suitors tried to win Her heart, but She prefers to be alone to care for Her trees.

Her name means “fruit” in Latin and “apple” in French. She is depicted as having a pruning knife in one hand to help Her tend to the fruit trees to help them flourish. Pomona is nurturing, devoted, and patient. She empowers the Mother in all of us to contribute and influence what feeds our soul.

She is a Fertility Goddess who spent so much time caring for Her trees that She didn’t care for Herself. A lot of womyn feel this way so let us call on Her to guide us to the orchards of self-care. She will show us how to prune our own trees to be able to produce the fruit to feed ourselves and others.

For the altar, please bring any images of her, a novena candle in a glass jar, any fruit grown in an orchard.

If you are interested in participating in our ritual please see our participation page.
