Aloha Daughters of the Goddess,
We gathered the She Wolves for the last ceremony, which was Zoom, and howled together at the bright full moon. Wonderful to have women from all over the US and one from Mexico. Now we journey forward to Celebrate Epona, the great Goddess of the Horse.

Epona is a Celtic Goddess celebrated all through Europe and eventually much of the world. She is most often seen with at least one or two white horses, and occasionally with a dog tagging along. Epona is known as a protector of horses, especially, but also of other animals. Often, She is seen riding side-saddle, or walking next to the horses, and sitting on a throne with a horse on either side. Epona usually carries a sheath of wheat (frequently with corn in her lap), usually in a cornucopia, and sometimes is feeding the horses. There is an image of a chalk horse on a hill in Uffington called the White Horse of Uffington. It is located in the hills of Oxfordshire, England.
Her celebration continues here in the US to this day. Mackinac Island is in Lake Huron, Michigan. It is a small island with a population of around 600. No private cars are allowed, and the main form of transportation is a bike or a horse. Every June, a celebration is held featuring a blessing of the animals and the Epona and Barkus Parade.
Epona is called upon for all sorts of reasons: protection of horses and animals, prosperity and fertility, health, and protection when going on a journey. Do you have an animal companion that you would like to give a blessing to? Are you preparing for travel or a journey? Come and celebrate Epona! For the altar, please bring a white candle (in a jar or container), any images of Her or Horses, roses or flowers, a picture of your animal companion, and a picture or map of where you are travelling to. Let’s ride off into the future together!
