Aloha Daughters of the Goddess,
Yemaya was wonderful this year. Beautiful women gathering, singing, swimming, and feasting. The coolness of the ocean water on our heads gives us the release of our worries, and the blessings for our requests. Quite a difference from where we are now in the inner valley in the heat of the Summer. It’s in the 90s today, but the weather is turning. There is a possibility of light rain and thunderstorms in a few days, a rare experience in this area. Hopefully, the lightning will stay in the skies. Come and join us in a celebration of the bounty of the Fall Equinox and the gifts of Corn Mother.

Fall Equinox is one of the 3 Harvests of the year. It is the time of the grain harvests of corn and wheat, along with some other wonderful fruits and vegetables like apples, peaches, pears, pomegranates, tomatoes, peppers, watermelon, and grapes. The Earth is bountiful in Her gifts to Her children. It’s also one of the 2 times a year when there is a balance of day and night. From this point forward, the days will become shorter and the nights longer, and the temperatures will cool. It is a time of balance, and yet for us humans, we can tend to feel more out of balance. It is a time to discover what in our lives is keeping us out of balance, with the new Moon giving us the opportunity to release it and call in what is needed.
Corn Mother has been celebrated in many parts of the Americas by many different peoples. She has many names: Selu, Iyatiku, Atina, Chicomecoatl to name a few. All of the tales tell of a mother with hungry children to feed and how She gives of Her own body to feed them. Corn Mother gives us all of the food needed to fill us up and to discover the joy of coming together to celebrate in feasting and community.
What is it that you need to release, to free yourself from all that is burdening you, weighing you down? What do you need to call in to feed yourself, not just the physical, but also the spiritual? Come and join us in a celebration of the abundance of the year and the freedom of release. For the altar, please bring a candle of fall colors, any images of Corn Mother, or some of the fruits, vegetables, or flowers of the season.
