Fall is a time of balance, we seek to find equality in the light and dark, both within and without. It is also the second of the harvest time with all sorts of wonderful things ready for harvesting. Plums, berries, figs, artichokes, tomatoes of all sizes, apples, pomegranates, squash of all sorts especially the wonderful pumpkin. And all of these are represented in the colors of Fall.
Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of the arts and knowledge She is a beautiful woman dressed in white, seated on a swan or white lotus. She is a Goddess of Creation. In Her hands She holds a book, a Mala beads, a water pot, and a Veena (musical instrument). She is a river Goddess and Her river ran through north western India.
Come and join us in and evening of prayer and painting. We will start the evening with mantra to Her to gather our energy and open to the creativity. Then we can enjoy some creative painting. No need to be an artist, let the colors flow thru you.
If you have a set of mala beads please bring them. For the altar please bring a candle of fall colors, any images of Saraswati. Also some of the harvest veggies or fruits, they might also be something to be used in our painting.
If you are interested in participating in our ritual please see our participation page. Mahalo
