Aloha Daughters of the Goddess,
Welcome to the new year. 2026 begins with the chill of winter. Beautiful rain pattering down on the trees and plants, soaking the Earth. It seems just a few days ago we were celebrating the Winter Solstice. The beautiful cedar garland enclosing our peace symbol was created with the lights of the candles. As we move forward into this new year, we look for the healing and protection of the gifts of Mother Earth. We call to Grandmother Cedar to share and teach us.

Our Mother Earth. She has so many beautiful gifts and teachings if we only slow enough to listen, to learn. Grandmother Cedar is whispering in the wind lately. It’s the season. She has come into our houses in the form of the Solstice/Christmas trees, the garland that decorates our houses and altars, and sometimes the wood for the fire that keeps us warm if you’re lucky enough to have a place for that. The Cedar tree is sacred to many different Native American tribes. Cedar has traditionally been used by indigenous people for respiratory issues, skin ailments, pain, and insect repellent. She shows us strength and resilience, is our protector, purifies and cleanses away negative energies. Grandmother Cedar shows us a path to healing, wisdom, and peace.
We will be making smudge sticks from the garland of our Winter Solstice peace altar. Blessed by ritual and the lights of the candles celebrating the coming of the Sun. For the altar, bring a candle of white or green. Any images of Grandmother cedar. Come and join us as we celebrate Her.
