Aloha Daughters of the Goddess,

The healing for Ava Park at her sacred space in Orange County was filled with heat, laughter, tears, and power.  Ava’s vulnerability was inspirational as she let each of us approach her bandage covering the incision where her new hip was placed. She drew a tree of life in gold ink on her bandage and allowed us to draw symbols of love, encouragement, and healing on her tree. We chanted, drummed, and danced in the magick of women’s healing.

I return from this pilgrimage to bring forth more healing energy.

Priestess Lorena Oceguera Tamayo and I will lead this ritual as we honor one of the Great Goddesses of Mesoamerica, Ixchel. Also known as Lady Rainbow, She was widely worshipped in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica.  She governed medicine, fertility, childbirth, weaving, and water in all its forms and the transformative cycle of the Female from Maiden, Mother, and Crone. She was the Patroness of midwives, herbalists, weavers, and the oracular Priestesses of Cozumel.  Women and girls all across the Yucatan and Guatemala would take journeys to Her oracular shrine in Cozumel to give prayers for fertility, safe childbirth, and healing.

She has a dual nature as Maiden and Crone, which symbolizes the Moon’s waxing and waning nature and mirrors the phases of and arc of women’s lives, and that each phase has its own irreplaceable power. This dual structure also encodes the profound spiritual belief that feminine power is not diminished by age but transformed.

Please bring a candle that represents Ixchell and flowers, water symbols, and rainbow imagery for the altar.
