Papahanaumoku, or Papa Haumea, is the Hawaiian Goddess of Fertility and the Earth.  She is the Mother of the Hawaiian Goddesses & Gods and the Hawaiian people.  It is said that She birthed Her children thru various parts of Her body. Papa created all eight of the Hawaiian Islands.  She creates an abundance of living things, a never-ending supply of food, and natural beauty for Her people.  The Breadfruit Tree is another of Her forms, the fruit of which is a sacred food of Hawaiians.   She is able to turn Herself into a Crone, a Mother, a Maiden, a Shark, a Human, and many other forms.

The Lei embodies the Aloha Spirit of the Hawaiian people.  It is a token of greetings, and of goodbyes, a sign of friendship and love.  A Haku Lei is a Hawaiian crown of flowers.  It is worn to celebrate special occasions.  In 1929 Lei Day became an official Holiday in Hawaii.  May Day is Lei Day on the islands, and a time to celebrate the beauty of Hawaiian culture.  It is also a time we celebrate the birthday of our Kahuna, who is the mother and keeper of our circle.  Please join us for this beautiful Ritual and spend time in the Aloha Hawaiian energy, making Haku Leis, listening to Hawaiian music, and being in the Aloha spirit that is so much a part of our Temple.

For this ritual please bring two bunches of flowers for our Haku Lei making.  Bring your Hawaiian word if you have one from a previous ritual.  Also, if you would like, please bring a gift or offering for Leilani.  If you are unable to attend the ritual and/or would like to contribute to a gift certificate, we can take donations via paypal to Patrice@daughtersofthegoddess.com, venmo, or other forms.  If interested please contact Patrice at Patrice@daughtersofthegoddess.com for additional contribution information.

For the altar please bring a candle that is any color of the rainbow, any symbols or pictures of Papahanaumoku/Haumea.  If you are called and can find them, please bring Breadfruit, Mango, Papaya or any yummy fruits or veggies to adorn the altar and/or for the feast.  If you can, and are called to, bring Hawaiian food for the feast.  Papahanaumoku is always pleased to see Her abundance.

If you are interested in participating in our ritual please see our participation page.   Mahalo
