Aloha Daughters of the Goddess,

The journey of the Wheel of Life and the Year continues as we approach Summer Solstice. Mahalo Nui loa/big thanks for the care and time of reading my letters to you.  I often wonder if the art of writing a letter is a dying art as we move into a fast-paced, short attention type of communication through social media, texting, and DM’s.  One of my favorite things in life is to still send snail mail and receive it with the art of handwriting, signatures, and stamps.

I’ve been advised to shorten our posts on social media; in order to get folks to “see everything” so I’m taking the risk of a longer communication to you!  I had a journey to Las Vegas, one of my childhood homes, to celebrate the life and passing of one of our family matriarchs.  Bernice lived until the age of 97 and had good health her whole life.  One of the things that was shared about her at the ceremony is the smile she always had on her face, which is an accomplishment for sure with being the mother of 7 children, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Her home was the hub of holidays, grown children moving back in with their kids for help, and she even adopted 3 children.  Being in her home and with her was always something that filled hearts with joy.  She lived a life surrounded by people and family that cared about her and that she cared about.

As a grandmother/tutu myself, I can’t help but be inspired by the legacy of the grandmothers, matriarchs, and women who have inspired us.  During my visit, I got to see my own nephew and niece and their children.  I reconnected with adults I have known since I was a teenager.  How can we add to our own journey through life with all its ups and downs, body aches, and changes?  As we whisper to one another in beauty salons about the perimenopausal journey, meet in Herbal Symposiums in the forest to share remedies, and gather in community to know we are all going through these transitions together, we hold strong.  Isolation and loneliness are clearly not the way to go through life and to have longevity.

The Summer Solstice marks the 30th Anniversary of the Daughters of the Goddess, part of my Life’s work, healing journey, and offering to Our Great Mother.  I invite you to share some works of your experiences with being on the Wheel together to share at the Summer Solstice ritual. Your energy will be added to the Healing Cauldron as we welcome a Goddess to our ritual Acesco.

Come and receive Her Healing and bring comfort to your body, which does so much for you!

Acesco, the daughter of Epione, the Greek Goddess of Healing Pain, was the personification of the process of healing itself.  The gradual restoration of health after illness or injury is most important to Her rather than the outcome.  She guides the body’s natural recovery and ensures that treatment is carried out with care and continuity.

She is often depicted holding healing herbs and ointment jars in her gentle hands.  She applies treatments and guides recovery.  In the healing sanctuaries, the Asclepieia, worshippers prayed to Her to ensure healing is not simply medical but a sacred, continuous process.  She was often invoked for healing long-term ailments and complex injuries.  She is the Greek belief that healing is a journey, not an event.  She is the Goddess of being patient during the healing process, and the gentle unseen forces of healing.  Her mother Epione, is also Her teacher and works alongside her to soothe pain and help with the ongoing care and patience needed for healing to occur

Her name comes from the Greek verb akeomi, which means “to heal” or “to mend,” directly linking her to the act of restoration rather than its outcome.

For this ritual, please bring healing ointments, herbs, and remedies you use in your own healing practice.  Wear comfortable clothes if you would like to receive hands-on healing.  Also, bring anything that means healing to you and a candle of a favorite color.

If you are interested in participating in our ritual please see our participation page.   Mahalo
